Alan Sidney Patrick Rickman was born on 21st February, 1946 in London, England. He was a renowned stage and movie actor known for his roles as a villain and is regarded as one of the Britain’s finest actors. He lost his life to cancer in 2016 at the age of 69.
Early Career
Starting his career in Graphic Designing, famous Hollywood actor Alan Sidney soon identified his true calling and started his acting career after graduating from Royal Academy of Royal Art (RADA). Alan Rickman played many roles in various theaters including “Romeo and Juliet”, “As You Like It” and “A View from the Bridge”.

The first TV appearance of Alan Rickman was in “The Barchester Chronicles” that was BBC’s adaptation of “Barchester Tower” and after that he appeared in many TV serials including “Les Liaisons Dangereuses”. Alan Rickman’s very first Hollywood movie appearance came in 1988 as a villain in “Die Hard” with Bruce Wills.
Although, he is known for his negative roles but has also proved his acting talents by playing a wide range of roles. The most prominent of his performances was in the world famous “Harry Potter” Series as Severus Snape. He has won many awards including Screen Actors Guild and Emmy Award in 1996, BAFTA Award 1992, nominated for Saturn Award in 2008 and 2012 and many others.
