Winona Laura Horowitz is an American Actress, she is popularly known as Winona Ryder. Born on 29th October, 1971.
Career Highlights
Winona started her acting career in 1986 in her debut film titled “Lucas”. In 1988, she was offered a significant role in “Beetlejuice”, which she performed to excellence and earned the appreciation from critics as well as from fans. In 1989, she was again offered a role in “Heathers”, for which she again received a pat on the back, so the back to back successful movies helped her establish her name among the top actresses of the time.
Her career breakthrough came in 1993, when she won her first ever Golden Globe Award and her first ever Academy award nomination in the category for best supporting actress, for her performance in movie titled “The Age of Innocence”. In 1994, she was again nominated for Academy award in the category for best actress for her role in “Little Women”.
Her other movies include “Night on Earth”(1991), “The House of the Spirits” (1993), “Reality Bites” (1994), “How to Make an American Quilt” (1995), “Boys” (1996), and “Celebrity” (1998),all these movies helped Winona become a versatile actress. “Alien Resurrection” released in 1997, earned Winona Blockbuster Entertainment Award in the category for best actress, the movie proved to be a commercial success but failed in comparison with other Alien movies.
As far as the awards she has won or nominated for, they include, Young Artist Award for “Great Balls of Fire” (1991), a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for her role in “How to Make an American Quilt” (1996), Saturn Award in the category for best supporting actress for her role in “Alien Resurrection” (1998), and a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for movie “Black Swan” (2010), among many other awards and nominations.
