Ashley Judd is an American TV and Film actress and a political activist; she was born on 19th April, 1968.
Career Highlights
Judd started her career when she appeared in two episodes of the legendary “Star Trek” Series in 1991. She also appeared in NBC drama series “Sisters” from 1991-94. As far as her film career is concerned she played a small role in “Kuffs” back in 1992, but she played her first leading role in “Ruby in Paradise” which went on to win Grand Jury Prize in Sundance Film Festival.
Later on she proved her credentials as a bright actress with her roles in “Smoke” and “Michael Mann’s Heat”, followed by a role in “The Passion of Darkly Noon”. She also achieved the Independent Spirit Award for Best Lead Female for her role in “Ruby in Paradise” in 1993. She played leading roles in “Kiss the Girls” (1997) and “Double Jeopardy” (1999) and both the movies proved to be box office hits.
In 2000, her role in “Where the Heart is” was considered as one of her best ever, but her performance in Cole Porter’s biography named “De-Lovely” earned her a well-deserved Golden Globe nomination. Her role as Norma Jean in “Norma Jean & Marilyn” Television film earned her a Golden Globe and a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Best Actress in a TV Film.
Beside her acting skills she is also known for her philanthropist contributions, she is a global ambassador for YouthAIDS as well as a member of their Board of Directors. She has worked in more than 30 movies and TV serials and has some brilliant performances under her belt.
