Anne Hampton Potts, better known as Annie Potts, was born on 28th October, 1952 in Nashville, Tennessee (USA). Now aged 67, Potts knew she wanted to act, even as a child.
She attended Stephens College in Missouri and earned their Bachelors in Fine Arts Degree. She promptly applied herself to an acting career.
Career Highlights
Some of Potts most memorable television roles include a stint on the award-winning show, “Designing Women”. Her first big film breaks came in the blockbuster comedies, “Ghostbusters” and “Ghostbusters II” back in the 1980s.
Her voice has been immortalized in the family classics, “Toy Story” and “Toy Story II”. Potts is not a critically acclaimed actress, but her body of work suggests she has a broad range of talents including her strong suit, comedy.
Her unique, upbeat attitude and her fun-loving nature are apparent in all of her works, and yet there is also a deeper, more serious side that we don’t get to see enough of in her films. If Annie Potts has weaknesses as an actress, it may be they are illusion.
After all, if she is not tested, we cannot adequately judge her merits for dramatic ability. The roles she has garnered heretofore are not the sorts that earn you best acting or supporting actress nominations.
I, for one, abstain from criticizing her abilities until they are given an opportunity to be presented. Though she did earn Emmy nominations for some of her television roles, Annie Potts has not (yet) won a major film award for her any of her performances.
