Gwyneth Kate Paltrow is an American Actress, business woman and author. She was born on 27th September, 1972 in Los Angeles, California (USA) to an actress famous in her own right, Blythe Danner and a father who produced both television and film.
To say that it was simply fate that made this young woman such a film success is silly. She was born to act.
Career Highlights
We first glimpsed Paltrow in the role of young Wendy, in the film adaptation of Peter Pan called Hook, back in 1991. It wasn’t long until she was beaming that almost ethereal smile at us as she accepted the Oscar for Best Actress in the 1998 smash, “Shakespeare in Love”.
Her strengths as an actress are stellar. This young woman has been called the only “truly great movie star” of our time. While I might slightly disagree with the term “only”, I do admit she has amazing talent and such finesse in every role she undertakes.
If there is any fault with Paltrow’s acting, it may come in her demeanor being mistaken as artificial. Some have accused her of painting on expressions as opposed to genuinely feeling the roles.
In addition to the Oscar win in 1998, Paltrow has accumulated a few awards. She took home the Satellite Award for Best Actress for Emma in 1996. She also merited the Blockbuster Award for Favorite Actress in “A Perfect Murder”, in 1998.
That same year, she took home the Oscar and a Golden Globe, along with a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance By a Female Actor in a Leading Role, all for “Shakespeare in Love”.
