Shakeel is a very famous television artist in Pakistan. His work has been recognized by all Pakistanis and is highly adored. He was born under the name of Yusuf Kamal in 1938 on 29th May.
He was born in Bhopal, India and then later in 1952 he migrated with his family to Pakistan. They stayed at Karachi. Shakeel is one of the educated artists in Pakistan. He received proper education before pursuing his career.
Shakeel is majorly known for his very famous performance as Uncle Urfi in a drama serial aired on PTV. Shakeel has done many different roles throughout his career, giving each a life. Audience has always liked to see Shakeel perform in a play.
Shakeel has done several films as well along with drama serial. Shakeel also played a role in an English film named “Butterflies are Free”. Shakeel made his debut in the film world in the year 1966 in the movie “Hunehar”.
He also played the role of Liaquat Ali Khan in the famous movie Jinnah. Other than this he has worked in more than 8 films. His other films include Insaan aur Gadha, Badal aur Bijli, Chahat, etc.
Shakeel has worked in many dramas such as Tick Tock Company, Doosri Aurat, Afshan, Chaudween ka Chaand, Kothi No 156, Colony 52, Uncle Urfi, Aangan Terha, Parchaiyan, Tum Sai Mil Kar, Mujhe Khuda Pe Yaqeen Hai and many more.
Shakeel was awarded with Pride of Performance Award in 1992 by the President of Pakistan for his work and contribution to the media industry. Shakeel has also been awarded with Sitara-i-Imtiaz.
He was nominated in the category for Best Actor Drama Series in a Supporting Role in The 1st Indus Drama Awards in 2005. Shakeel has also done a number of charity work for the people of Pakistan.
