Saloni was known as the queen of Punjabi movies in the 60s. She was famous for her seductive feminism. She started her acting career in the late 60’s and early 70’s.
Saloni did both Urdu and Punjabi films. She was born in Hyderabad, India. Her first film was in Urdu which was named Ghaddaar and was released in 1964. She gained huge recognition from her Punjabi film Phannay Khan in 1965.
Some of her famous films are Aadil, Nachay nagan bajay been, Aisa bhi hota hai, Khota Paisa, Sawaal, Tasweer, Lori, Taqdeer, Jalwa, Badla and Kochwaan. In the 70’s, Saloni got married to Bari Malik, the owner of Bari Studios in Lahore. She was blessed with two daughters.
Saloni worked in more than 200 films, which included both Urdu and Punjabi films. Saloni was a much focused, passionate and a hard working actress. She was very glamorous in all her roles. She was not only a good actress but also a good human being.
Saloni left the film industry in the late 80’s. Her health deteriorated. And sadly, she left her loved ones and fans sad on October 15, 2010 in Karachi. She was residing at her daughter’s place at that time. Saloni was buried on October 16, 2010, in Gulberg Lahore. Although Saloni is not with us anymore, but she will always remain in the hearts of her family and fans.
