Ann Haydon Jones or known as Adrianne Shirley Haydon by birth was born on the 7th of October, 1938 in England, United Kingdom. She was former professional table tennis and lawn tennis player as well as a champion.
Her parents were also prominent tennis players. Her father Adrian Haydon was the No. 1 British Player and was also a strong competitor in different championships during the years 1328 to 1953.
She started her career as a junior player and participated in 5 world championship tournaments in the 1950s however, her greatest success came in the year 1957 when she became a finalist in the singles, doubles, and mixed doubles titles.
As a lawn tennis player, Haydon Jones won the British junior championships in two consecutive years – 1954 and 1955. Moreover, she also has the credit to win the Wimbledon girls singles championship in the year 1956. She has played lawn tennis with very strong competitors such as Margaret Court, Maria Bueno, and Billie Jean King.
She won the French Championships in 1961 after the fierce competition and managed to reach the finals of the U.S Championship. In 1966, she won the French title for the second time that took place soon after her marriage with P.F Jones.
Haydn Jones got inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in the year 1985. She was also ranked to be among the top ten players in the world from 1957 to 1963 and from 1965 to 1970. Her career-high rankings were No. 2 players among world players in the years 1967 and 1969.
