Stewart Downing is a 26-year-old English Footballer (born 22 July 1984) who currently plays his football for The English and Merseyside Club Liverpool FC. He’s also represented The England National team at the senior level.

Downing started his football career at Middlesbrough in 2001 where he broke into the first team. In 2003 he had a short loan spell at Sunderland football club where he played 7 times scoring 3 goals.

He later came back to Middlesbrough and stayed there till 2009 making a total of 181 appearances and scoring 17 goals in the process. He then signed for Aston Villa football club in 2009 and stayed there till 2011 making a total of 63 appearances and scoring 9 goals for the midlands club.

He signed for Liverpool in July 2011 for a deal rumored to be worth about 20 million pounds. Downing usually plays on the left-wing and is an ideal set-piece taker. His left foot is considered one of the best in the English Premier League.

His crossing is ideal for teams with target men strikers due to which he is usually deployed on the left wing to complement the strikers. He also carries bags of pace from which he can usually beat his opponent. His major weakness is his right foot and the indecision to shoot sometimes.

Stewart Downing stands at a height of 1.80m making him an average heightened footballer. He has also represented The England Senior team 27 times but is still yet to score for the senior side.
