Nayan Ramlal Mongia is a resident of India was born on December 19, 1969, in Vadodara, Gujrat. He is a wicket-keeper and right-handed batsman. He started his professional career as a wicket-keeper in 1990. He got prominence as one of the best choices that were made as wicket-keeper and batsman of India.
He played in 1996 at New Delhi, India against Australia and spelled as an opener player. In this match, he made the highest score of 152. He played a total of 44 tests and 140 (ODI) One-day International Matches. 1n 1997, he played a test match in the avenue of Jamaica against The South Africa and made 78 scores.
In January 1999, he played against Pakistan in the avenue of MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, and in this test match, he made just 52 scores. He made 69 scores on April 12, 1996, ODI One-day international match against Pakistan at Sharjah CA Stadium, UAE with a batting average of 20.19. It was his top ODI score.
As wicket-keeping was the primary job of Mongia, he took 110 catches and did 44 stumps in 140 one-day international matches. He also scored 1272 runs including two fifties. In test cricket format, Mongia took 99 catches and did 8 stumps in 44 test matches.
He also scored 1442 runs in test cricket including 6 fifties and one century with 152 being his highest Test score. Mongia will always be remembered for his performance in the 1992 world cup. After Mongia, it’s MS Dhoni who has led his team very convincingly as a wicket-keeper in some of the important matches.
Mongia has mostly been the finest opening batsman in various matches. He showed an excellent performance in many of his one-day international as well as test matches.
