George Timothy Clooney, actor, director, producer, screenwriter, was born in Lexington, KY, USA on 6th May, 1961. He is ranked amongst Hollywood’s most sought after and well paid leading men. Oddly enough, acting was not George’s first choice as a career.
He wanted to play professional baseball, but a 1977 tryout for the Cincinnati Reds didn’t earn him a spot on the diamond, and so he went on to Tinsel town where he proved himself to be quite the package in leading male roles.
Career Highlights
George won a Golden Globe for Best Actor in “Oh Brother Where Art Thou” back in 2000 and an MTV Award for best Breakthrough Performance for his role in “From Dawn Till Dusk” in 1996. He has been nominated for big awards and has taken home no few lesser-known trophies.
Still, George’s biggest award has come in the high-grossing figures his films always seem to garner, making him a very attractive star for any producer’s next project.
George can stand there and smile at the camera for seventy-eight minutes and most of us would pay for a ticket. Aside from his looks, however, the man actually can act. The combination has led to comparisons between George and legendary film icon, Gregory Peck.
He has yet to be tested outside the good guy who gets the girl, or the bad-guy who is really a good guy who gets the girl, roles. He doesn’t come across as warm and fuzzy enough to be the father figure, nor does he play any role without that mischievous grin, so he probably wouldn’t play a straight man to someone else’s comic style.
