Jessica Phyllis Lange is an American Film and Stage Actress. She was born on 20th April, 1949 in Minnesota, US. She is the thirteenth actress in history to achieve the triple crown of acting.
Career Highlights
Lange started her career as an actress in 1976 with the remake of the famous “King Kong”. The film did a good business but Jessica Lange didn’t receive good reviews from critics and she decided to quit movies for 3 long years until she was offered a role by Bob Fosse in his movie titled “All That Jazz” released in 1979.
After a modest start she performed her role to perfection in 1981’s remake of the classic movie “The Postman Always Rings Twice”. The movie helped her in proving her critics wrong although only to some degree.
But in 1982, with her performance in “Frances” and “Tootsie” she earned two back to back Academy Award nominations in the category for best actress and best supporting actress. She ended up winning the supporting actress Academy award.
Jessica Lange also performed exceptionally well in movies including “Sweet Dreams”, “Crimes of the Heart”, “Music Box” and “Men Don’t Leave”. In 1994, she appeared in “Blue Sky” which earned Jessica Lange, her first ever Academy award in the category for best actress.
She also won laurels for her supporting roles in “Bonneville” and “Grey Gardens” for which she won Emmy award. She also appeared in different movies and in roles of all genres in her career.
Her other movies include “Everybody’s All-American” (1988), “Cape Fear” (1991), “Night and the City” (1992), “Losing Isaiah” (1995), “Rob Roy” (1995), “A Thousand Acres” (1997) and “Big Fish” (2003) to name a few.
As for her TV appearances she played various roles in “O Pioneers!”, “A Streetcar Named Desire”, “Normal” and “American Horror Story” which is her latest TV appearance.
