Salma Valgarma Hayek Jiménez de Pinault is a Mexican actress and of late she is also known as a directorial and production work. She was born on 2nd September, 1966 in Veracruz, Mexico and started her acting career at the age of 23 years.
Career Highlights
In 1989, appeared in her first acting assignment in Teresa and earned fame in Mexico. In 1994, her movie “El Callejón de los Milagros” received a record awards in Mexican cinema history.
She starred with Antonio Banderas in Desperado in 1995, followed by her other movies titled “Fools Rush In” (1997) and “From Dusk Till Dawn”. In 1999, she appeared in “Wild Wild West” alongside Will Smith, followed by another lead role in “Traffic” in 2000.
As a producer she also earned laurels for her movies including “El Coronel No Tiene Quien Le Escriba”, which was nominated for Oscar award in the category for Best Foreign Film. In 2002, Salma Hayek earned Academy award nomination in the category for best actress for her brilliant performance in “Frida”, which she also co-produced.
She also appeared in “In the Time of the Butterflies” (2001), as well as in “Grown Ups” co-starring Adam Sandler. She received “Woman of the Year Award” conferred by Glamour magazine, back in October 2001, followed by Producers Guild of America in the category for Celebration of Diversity Award in 2003.
Time Magazine’s “25 Most Influential Hispanics”, published in 2005 carried the name of Salma Hayek, among others. Later in 2006, she was awarded with the Harvard Foundation award for being the artist of the year. Throughout her career she played many roles in various movies, which went on to be commercially and critically successful.
