Vinod Kambli, a former cricketer of the Indian team, was born in Mumbai, on January 18, 1972. Vinod Kambli was always considered as an endowed The Indian batsman in ODIs and Test matches.
However, this magnificent batsman was unsuccessful in arriving at his anticipations. Still, Vinod Kambl is among the small number of The Indian batsmen who have a batting average exceeding 50. Kambli was fond of playing cricket from an early age.
However, he along with Sachin Tendulkar became popular after making a mutual record of 664 runs in a match played at their school. Kambli contributed 349 runs in that match.
In 104 One-day international matches, Kambli scored 2477 runs at an average of 32.59 including 14 fifties and 2 centuries. His highest ODI score is 106. In test cricket format, Kambli scored 1084 runs in 17 matches at an average of 54.20 including four centuries and three fifties.
His highest test score is 227. From the stats of Kambli, it is clear that he was much more successful in test cricket but he continued playing ODI matches for most of his limited career.
He played his first ODI match against Pakistan. Kambli’s Test match debut came up against England, in 1993, at Kolkata, in this match he scored 16 and 18 runs respectively. In the subsequent match, he played only one innings and was able to score 59 runs.
In the third and final match, he struck 224 runs in the first innings played by India. This led India to win that tournament with a margin of 3-0. Kambli made an additional double century in a match played against Zimbabwe. He scored 227 runs in that match and also succeeded in winning a prestigious reward for his outstanding performance.
He further made two centuries against Sri Lanka, in the next three matches of the series. Unfortunately, Kambli couldn’t maintain his performance after this. In 1995, he played against New Zealand in a test match, at the age of 24 only.
