Saleem Nasir was a famous Pakistani actor. He worked in both films and television dramas. He was born in Nagpur, India on 15th November, 1944 to an educated Syed Family. His real name was Syed Sher Khan. He was very versatile and he did justice to every role that was offered to him.
He also published his own entertainment magazine which was known as TV Tempo. He was also honored with the award called the President’s Pride of Performance Award in 1990 which is the highest acting award available to Pakistani actors.
He played the role of a servant in Aangan Tehra which is known to be his most remarkable performance. That performance was appreciated by all the people who watched the show and that performance established him as one of the greatest actors of his time.
His greatest work includes drama serials such as Dastak, Nishan-e-Haider, Janglooos, Bandish; he played opposite Khalid Riyasat, Mahmood Masood, Talat Hussain and Zafar Masood. Aakhri Chataan, Yanaseeb Clinic and Unkahi.
In Dastak he played a role of a rigid lawyer, in Nishan-e-Haider he played the role of Captain Sarwar Shaheed, in Aakhri Chataan he played the role of Sultan Jalal ud Din Manguberdi, and in Yanaseeb Clinic he played the role of a director. He was also the guest in Anwar Maqsood’s stage show, Silver Jubilee, in 1983. In 1976 film Zaib-un-Nisa, he played opposite Waheed Murad, Shamim Ara, Aaliya.
Saleem Nasir will be remembered for his great acting. He experienced heart attack on 24th September, 1989 and was rushed to the hospital. He died on 19th October, 1989 in Karachi at the age of 45 due to a heart attack. He had two daughters and a son. He was one of the best actors of his time.
