Pakistan Media Industry should be thankful to Radio for giving it such talented actor as Qazi Wajid. A superbly versatile actor. He was born on 26th May, 1930 in Meerut, India. Qazi Wajid started his career in 1965, from a children’s Programme in Radio.
He stated that Radio was his first love. Qazi Wajid dedicated 47 years of his life to Pakistani Media. Be it Radio, Stage, Theatre, Drama or Film. He proved his character in every genre.
Qazi Wajid was a versatile actor. From the sweet loving Father in Tanhaiyan to selfish greedy father in Hawwa ki Beti, Qazi wajid tried his best to bring the character to life. Qazi Wajid began working in PTV in 1967 and acted in more than 100 plays.
Dramas like Khuda ki Basti, Tanhaiyan, Dhoop Kinaray made Qazi Wajid a real star and his acting stole the hearts of millions of people. He was also awarded Pride of Performance for Hawwa Ki Beti in 1988.
And Best Actor award in the 12th PTV Awards. As a human being, Qazi Wajid was extremely humble and decent. He was very down to earth and a sophisticated person.
Qazi Wajid was a great supporter of bringing creative talents in the industry. He encouraged the fresh actors and advised them to learn from the old actors, which, he considered as the beacon of knowledge.
He did more than 1200 dramas as a staff artist for Radio Pakistan and more than 500 dramas for TV in the span of 50 years. During his last days, he traveled around the world for doing cross country theatres. He had a passion for collecting antique furniture.
He had one married daughter and was a grandfather of a cute little granddaughter. He passed away on 11th February, 2018 in Karachi at the age of 87 due to heart attack.
