The best bowling figure is recorded by none other than Pakistan’s fast bowler Umar Gul, who has done wonders at the T20. Umar Gul has taken 5 wickets of just 6 runs at an economy rate of 2.
This phenomenal bowling spell was against New Zealand at the Oval during 2009 ICC World Twenty 20 Cup. Second best bowler is Mark Gillespie who took 4 wickets of 7 runs at an economy rate of 2.47 vs Kenya during 2007 ICC World Twenty 20. Shahid Afridi of Pakistan has also taken 4 wickets however he is on third spot on account of his economy rate of 2.75.
A lot of pace bowlers and spinners have shown their talent in T20 Cricket, but with some margin, Pakistani bowling lineup has performed better than the others. Umar Gul is one of the most successful bowlers in the shortest format of Cricket. Shahid Afridi and Saeed Ajmal have also performed very well and raised the bar for others.
Although a lot have changed in T20 cricket world cup records since its first edition, the top 3 wicket takers in T20 career are still the same. Saeed Ajmal, Umar Gul and Shahid Afridi are still leading the charts for maximum wickets in T20 career.
Many analysts say that Umar Gul is at his most dangerous when he bowls in a T20 match. Although his yorkers are deadly in ODI matches two, he is able to use his pace and correct line and length better in T20 matches and hence gets more wickers in T20 format
