Born Daniel Jacob Radcliffe on 23rd July, 1989 in the Hammersmith area of London, UK, he will perhaps always be known by another name. He is, for many, the living persona of Harry Potter.
Career Highlights
Daniel’s debut in the role in 2001 brought him to prominence. His continuing appearances have garnered him fame and fortune. The Harry Potter series has been quite successful (mildly stated) at the Box Office and made him, for the moment at least, one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood.
Daniel Radcliffe has enjoyed numerous award nominations for his film roles. As yet, however, he hasn’t taken home one of the big prizes. He has, however, managed to garner a Best Male Performance nod from the National Movie Awards in the UK and a Best Actor Award from the Cine Awards in Belgium. Perhaps that Oscar nod lies somewhere in the future for Daniel.
Aside from a bit part in the box office dud “The Tailor of Panama” and a less than successful foray into a non-Harry role in the movie “December Boys” we haven’t seen him do more than play the reluctant hero wizard. We have, however, watched him grow up (almost literally) on screen. Many hold high hopes that Radcliffe can shake off his robe and move on to develop his talents more fully after the Hogwarts hoopla dies down.
His delicate, almost fragile features and slim build make him, as yet, unready for a number of roles. He might have the acting ability, but for some parts, you have to have the “look”, as well. Whether he can grow into it remains to be seen.
