Geoffrey Roy Rush is an Australian film producer and an actor, known for his versatile acting talent. Born on 6th July, 1951 Australia, Geoffrey Rush is one of the few individuals to have won “The Triple Crown of Acting”, which is the combination of an Academy Award, an Emmy Award and Tony Award.
Early Career
Geoffrey Roy started his acting career from theatre titled “The Wrong Side of the Moon” and many other stage plays including “Hamlet on Ice”, “The Winter’s Tale”, “The Importance of Being Earnest” and “Juno and the Paycock” before he left for Paris for studies. In 1981, he appeared in his debut movie titled “The Hoodwink”, followed by “Starstruck” and a number of TV plays until he earned a major role in the movie titled “Shine” in 1996, which proved to be a phenomenal success and a much needed boost for his acting career.
He was the first Australian born actor to win an Academy Award for his exceptional performance in “Shine”, which brought him into the limelight and a result he earned powerful roles in a number of movies including “Shakespeare in Love”, “House on Haunted Hill”, “Les Misérables” and “Elizabeth”.
