Michael John Myers was born on 25th May, 1963 in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. Now 57 years of age, Mike has enjoyed a string of successes as an actor, a screenwriter, producer, and comedian.
Career Highlights
Myers was a long-time regular on the popular television comedy series, “Saturday Night Live” from 1989 until 1995. His first big film role was in the movie “Wayne’s World” in 1992. Myers wrote the screenplay. He had a brilliant moment in the wacky spy film “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery” in 1997, but may be best known for being an ogre.
He is the voice of the world’s most beloved ogre, “Shrek”. His one excursion in to serious dramatic film was the critically acclaimed picture “Inglorious Basterds” for which the cast won both the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture and a Broadcast Critics Association award for Best Cast.
Myers won four American Comedy awards for his work in the role of Austin Powers. He picked up Best Male Film Performance and Best Writing. He also won the 2000 American Comedy Award for “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me”. His comedic talent is almost too obvious.
He actually seems to have as much fun being funny as his audience has laughing at his antics. His work in the aforementioned “Inglorious Basterds” showed some theatrical promise. Let’s hope that he can break out of his ogre form and leave the love bead behind long enough to make a real movie. He is a great comedic actor with some dramatic potential.
