Born Pierce Brendan Brosnan on 16th May, 1953 in Ireland, Brosnan became a US citizen in 2004. Now with a long history of playing the debonair male heartthrob on both television and in film, he is still a hot ticket at the box office.
Best known perhaps for his reprisal of two roles made famous by British actor, Roger Moore i.e. James Bond and The Saint, Brosnan’s smooth style have won him a loyal standing of fans amongst movie goers. TV shows he has been a part of include “Hammer House of Horror”, “Remington Steel”, “The Manionsof America” and “The Son” among others.
His first roles relied as much on Peirce’s good looks as his talent. As he has aged, his roles have become more challenging. It has been nice watching him evolve and emerge as a solid actor with good range and great charisma.
Those same good looks that keep him in the leading man category also prevent him from expanding his repertoire and adding a villain. His best effort in “Mamma Mia”, got nothing but criticism. Fortunately for Brosnan, his looks seem to be holding up quite nicely.
Pierce Brosnan won a Saturn Award for his performance in his second Bond film “Tomorrow Never Dies” and an Empire Award for Best Actor in his third stint as 007 in “The World is not Enough”. He was nominated for a golden globe for the “Matador”, but didn’t win.
