He was born Tobias Vincent Maguire on 27th June, 1975 in Santa Monica, California (USA). Better known to millions as, Tobey Maguire, the now-45-year-old film actor made fans worldwide with his portrayal of the epic comic-strip hero, Spiderman Maguire is married.
He and his wife, Jennifer, have two children. In spite of having some problems with alcohol and drugs early on, Maguire seems to have gotten his life and his career on track.
Career Highlights
Maguire started getting small roles on television and in films in the late ’80s and early ‘90s. Thanks to his youthful appearance, Maguire continued to garner roles playing parts much younger than his actual age well into his twenties.
He was literally catapulted to film stardom in 2002 with the release of the monster-hit, “Spiderman” in which he plays the role of Peter Parker, a role he reprised in the two sequels in 2004 and 2007. He has had several box office successes post-Spiderman, including a Golden Globe Nomination for his role in the film, “Brothers”, in 2009. He has 30 nominations and has won 8 awards so far.
Like so many actors who enjoy their youthfulness as an advantage up to and, on rare instances, into his or her thirties, Maguire is going to be faced with a critical juncture at some point.
He is either going to have to mature both as an actor as he ages in appearance, or he will simply have to resign himself to supporting roles. Since he has talent, it would be nice to see him have the opportunity to pursue that prior course.
